J. Accurately place and securely support items required to be built into forms. Set and build
into work anchorage devices and other embedded items required for other work that is
attached to,or supported by,cast-in-place concrete. Use setting drawings, diagrams,
instructions and directions provided by suppliers of items to be attached thereto. Install
waterstops continuous without displacing reinforcing. Provide continuity in waterstops
by making fused butt splice using heating element specifically designed for that purpose.
K. Erect and support, brace and maintain falsework to safely support vertical, lateral, and
asymmetrical loads and forces until they can be supported by in-place concrete structures.
L. Set edge forms or bulkheads and intermediate screed strips for slabs to obtain required
elevations and contours in finished slab surfaces. Provide and secure units to support
types of screeds required.
M. Protect forms from deterioration, weather, and shrinkage prior to concreting by proper
oiling or wetting.
N. Coat form contact surfaces with non-staining,form-coating compound before
reinforcement is placed. Do not allow excess form coating material to accumulate in
forms or come into contact with surfaces which will be bonded to fresh concrete. Apply
in compliance with manufacturer's instructions.
O. For exposed concrete, drill forms to suit approved ties and spacings and to prevent
leakage of mortar around tie holes. Do not splinter forms by driving ties through
improperly prepared holes.
P. For exposed concrete,do not use metal cover plates to patch holes or defects in forms.
Q. At intersecting planes provide sharp, clean corners without visible edges or offsets and
back joints with extra studs or girts to maintain true, square intersections.
R. Form exposed corners of beams and columns to produce square, smooth unbroken lines,
unless they are shown to be bevelled or rounded.
S. Exposed beveled corners shall be 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch and rounded corners shall be 3/4
inch radius, unless otherwise shown. Accurately form and surface corners to produce
straight lines and tight edge joints. Extend terminal edges to required limit and miter
strips at changes in direction.
T. Unexposed corners may be formed square, bevelled or rounded.
U. At changes in plane, form molding shapes, recesses and projections with smooth-finish
materials, and install in forms with sealed joints to prevent displacement.
V. Thoroughly clean forms and adjacent surfaces to receive concrete. Remove chips, wood,
sawdust, dirt or other debris before concrete is placed.During cold weather be sure that
ice and snow has been removed.
ADDENDUM#1
1607.001 -ORONO ICE ARENA(CP-2) Page 03100-4
