3. Commercial Fertilizer: Complete fertilizer,part which is derived from organic <br /> sources. Determine formula from soil analysis. For bidding assume the following: <br /> a. Trees and Shrubs: <br /> Fall or Summer Planting: Apply 0-20-20 at 12 oz.per 2" - 3" caliper tree and <br /> larger,and 6 oz. on shrubs or small trees <br /> Spring Planting: Apply 0-10-10 at similar rates. <br /> 4. Fertilizer shall be delivered mixed as specified in standard size bags, showing weights, <br /> analysis and name of manufacturer and shall be stored in a weatherproof storage place in <br /> such manner that it will be kept dry and its effectiveness not impaired. <br /> 5. The Architect reserves the right to vary the percentages of the components of the <br /> fertilizers subject to the results of the soil fertility tests. <br /> 2.2 PLANT MATERIAL STANDARDS <br /> A. Names and Grades: Plant material shall conform to nomenclature of"Standardized Plant <br /> Names"as adopted by the Joint Committee of Horticulture Nomenclature,latest edition. <br /> Size and grading standards shall conform to the American Association of Nurserymen, <br /> Inc.,as published in "American Standard for Nursery Stocks," latest edition. No <br /> substitutions of size or grade shall be permitted without written permission of the <br /> Architect. Each bundle of plants and all separate plants shall be properly identified with <br /> legible waterproof tags securely fastened to each plant or bundle of plants. <br /> B. Form: Well formed for the species or variety. <br /> C. Health: All plants including their roots shall be free from disease,insects,or other <br /> injurious qualities. Contractor shall comply with all local, State and Federal laws <br /> pertaining to the inspection,sale,and shipment of plant materials. Plants shall show good <br /> annual growth. Buds shall be plump and well filled for the species. All plants shall be <br /> nursery grown unless otherwise indicated on the drawings or elsewhere in these <br /> specifications. They shall have been growing in similar climatic conditions as the <br /> location of the project for at least two years prior to the date of this contract. <br /> D. Plant Materials Schedule: The list of plants furnished on the drawings is for the <br /> information of the Contractor. The height and spread of shrubs are the minimum <br /> dimensions required. <br /> 1. All plants shall conform to the measurements specified in the Plant Materials <br /> Schedule on the drawings,except that plants larger than specified may be used if <br /> approved by the Architect. Use of such plants shall not increase the contract price.
