2. Cover stored soils so as to: <br /> a. Keep soil free of contamination including construction debris and wind-borne <br /> seed. <br /> b. Protect soil from rain,wind,runoff and erosion. <br /> 3. Ship products with supplier's itemized receipt certifying quantity and quality of <br /> products. <br /> C. Trees and Shrubs: Provide fresh plants. Do not prune prior to delivery. Do not bend or <br /> bind-tie plants in such a manner as to damage bark,break branches or destroy natural <br /> shape. Provide protective covering during delivery including tarpaulins over foliage to <br /> prevent wind burn. Deliver after preparations for planting have been completed and plant <br /> immediately. If planting is delayed more than 6 hours after delivery, set plants in shade, <br /> protect from weather and mechanical damage. Keep moist. Do not remove container <br /> grown stock from containers until planting time. Label at least one tree and one shrub of <br /> each variety with a securely attached metal tag bearing legible designation of botanical <br /> and common name. Retain label on one tree and one shrub of each variety after <br /> installation. <br /> D. Mulch: Deliver mulch on day of initial installation. Protect from deterioration and <br /> erosion during delivery and storage on site. Complete installation within 48 hours of <br /> product arrival on site. <br /> E. Protection: The Contractor shall be responsible for any damage to other areas resulting <br /> from planting operations and shall bear the full cost to repair the damage. <br /> Accomplishment of repairs shall be equal to the original installation prior to damage. Any <br /> damage shall be immediately reported to the Architect and Owner and repairs shall be <br /> approved by both. <br /> 1.6 PROJECT/SITE CONDITIONS <br /> A. Existing Conditions: <br /> 1. When any detrimental conditions to plant growth are encountered,such as rubble fill, <br /> clay fill,adverse drainage conditions,obstructions, soil contaminants or the like,the <br /> Contractor shall notify the Architect before proceeding. <br /> 2. Locations of all utilities must be determined by the Contractor prior to beginning <br /> work,and all work shall be performed in a manner which will avoid damage to such <br /> utilities. <br /> B.
