In the event that specified density for any definable area has not been obtained as <br /> determined by test, densities up to 5 percent below specified value will be accepted, <br /> but at a reduced price as indicated below. Where the average thickness of the bituminous section as determined by core samples <br /> is less than but not more than 1/2" less than the design thickness,the bituminous <br /> section may be accepted,but at a reduced price that is directly proportional to the <br /> installed thickness as compared to the design thickness. Where the average thickness <br /> is more than 1/2"less than the design thickness,the bituminous course shall be <br /> removed and at the Contractor's expense. The Architect/Engineer shall establish the <br /> limits of pavement replacement. <br /> E. Extraction,gradation of inplace bituminous. <br /> 1. For each 500 tons of bituminous,test for A.C.content and gradation conformance to <br /> the job mix formula. Testing to be done per ASTM D2172.
