Foundation soil shall be excavated to the lines and grades as shown on the construction <br /> drawings or as directed by the Testing Laboratory representative. <br /> B. Foundation soil shall be examined by the Testing Laboratory representative to assure that <br /> the actual foundation soil strength meets or exceeds a design strength of 2000 psf. <br /> C. Over-excavated areas shall be filled with compacted granular material. <br /> ' D. Foundation soil shall be proof-rolled prior to fill placement. <br /> 3.2 BASE PREPARATION <br /> A. Base shall be placed as shown on the construction drawings with a minimum thickness of <br /> 6". <br /> B. Base materials shall be installed upon compacted granular borrow or undisturbed native <br /> soils. <br /> C. Material shall be compacted so as to provide a level, hard surface on which to place the <br /> first course of units. Compaction shall be with mechanical plate compactors to 95% of <br /> Standard Proctor Density(ASTM D698) <br /> D. Base shall be prepared to ensure complete contact of retaining wall unit with base.
