4. Hydrant elevation: (must be within tolerance as shown on detail). <br /> B. Secure all necessary permits and notify the City and A/E of intended schedule. <br /> C. Have private utilities located by appropriate Utility Company. <br /> D. Coordinate excavation schedules and soil disposal with Earthwork Contractor as <br /> applicable. <br /> E. Charges for utility connections, utility repair and City inspection fees shall be paid for by <br /> the Contractor prior to work proceeding. <br /> 3.2 PREPARATION <br /> A. Verify the following prior to placing any pipes or structures: Inverts of manholes to which <br /> connections are to be made; inverts at all utility crossings, including but not limited to <br /> water mains, sewers, gas, electric, communications,telephone and all connection points to <br /> existing utilities. <br /> 1. Notify the A/E of any discrepancies. <br /> 3.3 GROUND WATER <br /> A. Review the soil boring logs for ground water elevations. Maintain trenches free of ground <br /> water during pipe installation. <br /> 3.4 EXCAVATION <br /> A. General Excavation <br /> 1. Excavated material satisfactory for backfill shall be stockpiled in an orderly manner at <br /> a distance from the trench edge to prevent slide of cave-ins. The stockpile shall be <br /> protected from contamination due to unsatisfactory excavated material. <br /> 2. Excavated material not suitable for backfill shall be disposed of offsite or as negotiated <br /> with the earthwork subcontractor. Unauthorized over-excavation shall be backfilled <br /> with compacted bedding material at no additional cost to the Owner. <br /> B. Trench Excavation <br /> 1. The trench depth, width, side slopes and benches shall be per OSHA Codes. Local, <br /> state and federal codes shall also govern. <br /> 2. Trench Subgrade: Once trench excavation is apparently complete for underground <br /> sewer and water lines,the testing laboratory representative shall inspect and test the <br /> exposed trench subgrade.
