FI 19 7fi through FY 1�79 _ The E�A con- <br /> ducted a surve}� o` e�is�ing �:astewater trez�men� needs in T�sinr.esota <br /> in 1978 and determined that based on 1978 dollars , it i�ili require <br /> $1 . 226 million to correct all e�:isting treatment needs in 2�Zinnesota. <br /> Deter�inarion of Fundin� Priorities <br /> �ne cri�eria ior deter�:iining the order in �,�hich projects will be <br /> funded is set forth in EPA Construction Grants Regulations <br /> (40 CFR 35. 915) and in WPC-34 (State of T:innesota rules) . 2/ The <br /> criteria include iactors such as : (a) population; (b) degree of <br /> � need,; which is determined by the current use of tne receiving <br /> water bod��, s�ringency of effluent standards which must be �et , <br /> and classiiica�ion of recei�=ing river se�ent ; and (c) abili�y to <br /> participate in areawide (multi-cou�nunity) treatment . <br /> For administration purposes treatment projects have been cate- <br /> gorized as : (a) wastewater treatment works ; (b) major interceptor ; . <br /> (c) interceptor ; and (d) sewer s}�stem. �n December 1973 , t�e <br /> � Ninnesota Pollution Control Agency (r�'CA) Board adop�ed a polic�� <br /> which ranked these categories for iunding.
