REGULAR MEETING OF THE ORONO COUNCIL, MAY 12 , 1980 Page 14 Dick Benson, City Administrator, informed the NEWSLETTER COMMENTS* City Council that the majority of responses to the Orono Reporter Survey has been affirmative to the questions printed in the spring issue , which were in regard to the size of the newsletter, convenience in reading, and if they are receiving it. Dick Benson, City Administrator, informed the City PART-TIME SECRETARY* Council that the position of part-time secretarial Police Department duties in the Police Department has been vacated and does require replacement. The position is budgeted and consists of approximately 16 hours work a week and also filling our full-time secretary ' s position for vacation and sick day. We are in the process of interviewing now anticipating the position can be filled by Monday, May 12 , 1980 to accommodate an excessive workload in the police office . The hourly rate will commence at $4 . 00 per hour. I recommend approval of this request. Council Meeting - May 12 , 1980 Hurr moved, Butler seconded, to approve the employment EMPLOYMENT * of Carol Jean Hansing for the Police Department at Carol Jean Hansing a rate of $4 .00 per hour, effective May 12 , 1980, with a six month review. Motion, Ayes (4 ) - Nays (0) . Hurr moved, Butler seconded, to approve the Liquor and SUNDAY & LIQUOR Sunday Liquor licenses for Jimmie ' s Lounge , 3380 Shoreline LICENSE* Drive, for Jimmie G. Holtz. Motion, Ayes (4 ) - Nays (0) . Jimmie ' s Lounge , Dick Benson, City Administrator, presented the City INFILTRATION/INFLOF Council with a memo dated May 7, 1980 , which states: I arranged a meeting with Medina ' s Mayor Tom Anderson, Engineer Lyle Swanson, and members of the Pollution Control Agency, Metropolitan Waste Control Commission, and the Department of Natural Resources. The object of the meeting was to encourage participation of the various agencies in lowering a culvert at the Town Line Road. The 24" culvert was installed by Medina five years ago when sanitary sewer was installed in the area. The culvert was placed on top of another 18 " culvert which has caused what used to be pasture land to be converted into a large holding pond. This has created odor problems, flooding problems and has generated complaints from residents in the area demanding the plant be shut down. (Continued)
