REGULAR MEETING OF THE ORONO COUNCIL, FEBRUARY 25 , 1980 Page 27 Dick Benson, City Adr.iinistrator, presented the DISEASED TREE REMOVAL City Council with a memo from John R. Gerhardson, BID* Public Works Coordinator, concerning a diseased tree removal bid dated February 21, 1980 , which states: The City of Orono received notice that there were eleven diseased elm trees at the northwest end of the Casco Point skating rink and three diseased elms on City property adjacent to the Highwood Nature Trail. The trees at the Casco Point skating rink are located such that City crews cannot remove them. The trees will have to be cut down and brought to Casco Point Road with special equipment (skidder) so as not to damage the area other than one path. The trees adjacent to the Highwood Nature Trails are located such that they are very close to homes and cannot be cut down by City crews. Once the trees are cut down, we can get the trees out with street department equipment. I have received three estimates from private tree firms for the cutting down of the fourteen trees. Minnesota Tree Inc. $1, 225 Lutz Tree Service Inc. $1,065 Tall Timber Tree Care $1, 035 Therefore, it is my recommendation to contract the cutting down of the fourteen trees to Tall Timber Tree Care for an amount not to exceed $1, 035. Council Meeting - February 25 , 1980 Hurr moved, Paurus seconded, to approve the low BID AWARD* bid of Tall Timber Tree Care for cutting down Tall Timber Tree Care fourteen trees per the above memo but not to exceed the amount of $1,035. Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) . Dick Benson, City Administrator, announced that a JOINT SEWER MEETING* joint meeting will be held February 27 , 1980 at Orono-Dledina-Long Lake 7 : 30 P.M. at the Long Lake Council Chambers with Medina and Long Lake Council representatives to discuss the Joint Sewer Construction and Maintenance Agreements.
