RFGULAR rZEETIN� O�' mHE ORONO COUr1CIL, OCTnBFR 16 , 1979 Page 21 2. �arage at the ��ater Plant BUD�ET EXPLANAmIONS At the present time, there is no vehicle or (Continued) inventory and su��ly storage at the Plavarre Water Plant. r4aintenance supnlies for day to da�� maintenance • are noia being stored in the Public �•�7orks buildings in Crystal Bay because there is no room for storage in the water plant, and items such as oil for lift station pump motors, distillates and other maintenance items cannot be stored in the water plant hecause of being health hazards. The utility department is a three-man department with three vehicles, two 3/4 ton pickup trucks and one high pressure sewer line cleaninc� rlachine. The two pickups carr�� all the maintenance tools in the back of the vehicle because of lack of storage elsewhere. ^'his becomes dif�icult in the winter �vhen it snows as the tools get covered �aith sno��, and wet in the summer when it rains. The high pressure sewer cleaning machine is a bigger vehicle being rated as a two-ton vehicle. The sewer cleaninq machine is a very sophisticated machine with several �umns and valves that riust be drained each time after its use in cold weather to elirlinate free2e up. mhe machine is presently beinc� kept in cold storaqe in the Puhlic Taorks buildings in Crystal Bay. At the present time, if a lift station �urtp, compressor, water meter, etc. , needed minor repair, it is brought down to the Public Works shop at Crvstal Bay. If a garage is constructed at the water nlant, it will increase the life of ec�uinment and tools and eliminate several trips to the Crystal Bay area and improve on the efficiency of the department and save on fuel. I have estimated the cost as follows: Concrete floor 26X26 51,500 - $2 , 000 P4aterial for building 53 ,000 - $3,500 Labor, heating, electrical $3 , 500 (Continued)
