Release for Sale
r4r. Alan Olson, City Planner, entered into. the 47ELL ORDINANCE
record an amendment to the Water P7e11 Ordinance
dated June 5, 1979 , which states:
At the last meeting, there were questions raised
as to why amendments have been proposed. he only
reason is to simplify and coordinate our ordinances
with the State code under which all drillers riust
now operate.
Our existing ordinance as adopted in 1961 and
includes technical specifictions now superceded
by the State requirer.lents. Rather than duplicate
or be in conflict with these requirements, we
wish to have Orono adopt by reference the 1974
State regulations. This simplifies our ordinances
and eliminates conflict for the drillers.
The proposed amendments continue our existing
licensing, bonding and insurance requirements.
There are no changes or increased regulations.
The State as yet does not require or provide
uniforrn bonding or insurance for drillers as is
now done with plumbers, hence we retain these
local requirements for resident protection.
(Continued)
