One incident of record involves a homeowner <br /> installing a 500 gallon tank to the consternation <br /> of his neighbor whose house is ten feet away. rleedless <br /> to say, work was done without permits and without <br /> regard for State fire code regulations. <br /> We are afraid that this is only the tip of an iceberg <br /> with unknown quantities of gasoline being stored in <br /> cars and garages. <br /> We propose and recor:�riend that the Council adopt <br /> the atta�hed ordinance for two purposes : <br /> l. To clarify our existing zoning and nuisance <br /> provisions so that staff has one concise <br /> ordinance to use in eliminating hazardous <br /> situations as they arise. <br /> 2 . io be a public warning, easily publicized, to <br /> help prevent such dangers from occurring im <br /> the first place. <br /> The ordinance is offered as a warranted emergency <br /> measure.
