Van Nest <br /> Mayor of Orono <br /> Box 66 <br /> Crystal Bay, MN 55323 <br /> Dear Sir: <br /> In the interest of achieving more effective administration and uniformity of the <br /> � county voter registration system, we are undertaking a feasibility study to <br /> determine which municipalities, that had less than 15,000 registered voters as of <br /> March 1 , 1978, would prefer that the county assume responsibility of their voter <br /> registration files. Should you elect to transfer your files, you will , however, <br /> be expected to continue to accept registrations and be responsible for assuring <br /> completeness and accuracy of the voter registration cards before they are submitted <br /> to the county. <br /> Since this method of registration would necessarily increase staffing, equipment, <br /> space and other needs, we envision asking the legislature to reimburse the county <br /> for a portion of these costs. Those municipalities transferring their files <br /> would be asked for their support in the lobbying efforts of the county. <br /> To enable us to gather meaningful data, it is essential that each municipality <br /> furnish us with the following information: <br /> 1. Do you choose to have Hennepin County be responsible for your voter <br /> registration files? - <br /> 2. What would the cost savings be for your municipality if yoit chose to - <br /> transfer your files? <br /> 3.
