Included are copies of letters <br /> approving the dredging in 1960 (not certified) . <br /> Enclosed is a sketch (not too clear) of the proposed <br /> fill area marked with an "X" by the applicants. <br /> Also enclosed is a copy of a portion of the plat <br /> map of the area designating the approximate location <br /> proposed to be used for the disposal of the spoils <br /> as indicated to me by Mr. Sween on October 31, 1977. <br /> Planning Commission Meeting - November 7, 1977 <br /> Several members of the Association �lere present. <br /> Mr. Earl Sween as the spokesman of the group. <br /> He presented copies of two permits issued in 1960 <br /> by the Minnesota Conservation District. <br /> Planning Commission reviewed documentation presented <br /> to determine whether proposal would qualify as <br /> maintenance dredging.. Commission appeared to <br /> indicate interpretation as maintenance dredging. <br /> The projected location .for disposal 4f spoils was <br /> main concern of Commission. Orono has adopted <br /> a policy to deny previous applications for disposal <br /> of spoils within 1,000 ft� of the shoreline. <br /> � Dr. Wood of the FWBI presented his views on the <br /> proposal. He explained the advantages of .the <br /> projected Mudcat method of. dredging which included <br /> removal of accumulated silt only (no hard pan) . <br /> He also assured the Commission that precautionary <br /> r.leasures would be taken to prevent siltation of <br /> solids and potential damage to the water quality <br /> of the lake. <br /> Planning Commission tabled application with reguest <br /> for soils map and xeport and detailed .�lan for <br /> dredging and disposal of spoils with understanding <br /> that spoils disposal wDuld not vialate Ordinance <br /> No. 125_ Indicated tentative approval of concept. <br /> Approval of projected sp.oils disposal site would be <br /> deternined after careful review of .all reports <br /> documenting advantages txom project and assurance <br /> that project would not adversely effect the quality <br /> of the water. Superuision of precautionary measures <br /> and reports would be the responsibility of the <br /> F�7BI. Proposed disposal site should be marked. <br /> - (Continued) <br />
