Dick Benson, City Adrlinistrator, informed the SALARY INCREASE City Council of a nemo from John �erhardson, Dale Skreen Public �Vorks Coordinator, dated Psay 5, 1978 , � which states: The following is the procedure followed in the street department when an employee is promoted from a light equipment operator classification to heavy equipment operator classification. The employee receives an intermediate hourly - _ wage only when he is operating heavy equipment. After a period of time, he is evaluated and then receives the intermediate salary, whatever function he is performing. Again, after a period of time, he is again evaluated and then receives the heavy equipment operator' s scale. In July of 1977, a result of the restructuring of the public works department, PZr. Dale Skreen was appointed to heavy equipment operator and was placed at the intermediate salary of $6 . 92 per hour. The scale was $7.05 per hour. On January l, 1978, P'ir. Skreen received a 7� increase which brought him up to $7.40 per hour. This was not a step increase, but an annual increase. Mr. Skreen has performed very well when operating the equipment and i feel he deserves to receive the intermediate hourly rate� of $7. 40 per hour at whatever function he is performing, effective May 15, 1978 . 24r. Skreen will be evaluated again at the end of the summer season. This will determine whether he should receive the full hourly rate of heavy equipment (Continued)
