Motion, Ayes (4} - <br /> Nays (0) . <br /> Dick Ilenson, City Administrator, informed the City BIKE/HIKE TRAILS <br /> �ouncil that we are in receipt of a letter from <br /> the Department of Transportation, dated February 27, <br /> 1978, which states: <br /> "Three criteria have been established that must be <br /> satisfied prior to the designation and signing of <br /> County roads as bike/hike routes. These criteria <br /> are as follows: <br /> l: The trail adjacent to the countv road must <br /> meet the construction standards+ of the county. <br /> 2 . The trail must be part of an approved municipal <br /> and/or area-wide trail system which is cor�plete, <br /> or substantially so, and functional. <br /> 3. The designation of the bike/hike routes must <br /> be requested by the City Council. <br /> Your letter of January 30, 1978 listed several <br /> prioritized segments of county roads in Orono <br /> that had been designated as bike/hike trails by <br /> the City Council. Upon examination of these route <br /> sec�r�ents, it was found that only two meet all <br /> three criteria listed above. These are CSAH 15 from <br /> the Spring Park city lir.lits to CSAH 19 and CASH 19 <br /> from the Narrows Bridge to CSAH 15 in Navarre. (Continued) <br />
