s � � REGULAR MEETING OF THE ORONO COUNCIL, JULY 25, 1977 Page 16 � Paul Kempf: We need action now. I have to do the NORTH STAR MARINA dredging this year. A specific timetable and (Continued) �lan are not available at this time. � Councilmember Paurus: Can we expect a plan in two � weeks? . � Paul Kempf: We are waiting for our suppliers. � Mayor Van Nest noted that both of the Building & Zoning Department members were out of town for � two weeks and it is iriperative that they review • the dredging request. � It was suggested that a committee comprised of two or three Councilmembers be appointed to meet � with North Star to review an overall plan as soon as possible in order to expedite the handling of � this development request. � Councilmember Massengale noted that it appeared to � him that North Star Marina had adequate navigable access to the lake and that there was no need for � dredging. � Councilmember Pesek: There is navigable access to the harbor now. It appears that North Star wants a depth of three feet up to the edge of � the property line. I want the dredging as part of an overall plan. • Mayor Van Nest: Our intention was to review a � total plan and not piecemeal this project. In- terpretation of the guidelines set forth by the � DNR and the MCWD in granting this permit is not • clear. � Councilmember Massengale noted that there .is no data to support the need for dredging and to � grant a variance to our wetlands ordinance would not be environmentally sound at this tima. We need � a dock plan and the LMCD review of this dock plan. There seems to be much cor_fusion on what Orono � has requested and the Kempfs agreeing upon • earlier,and what they are requesting tonight. + Mayor Van Nest to Paul Kempf: Would you be willing to meet with a Council committee to review your � request? � Paul Kempf: We want action tonight. � Mayor Van Nest to Bruce Malkerson, City Attorney: �What are our options?
