� REGULAR MEETING OF THE ORONO COUNCIL, MAY 23, 1977 Pa e 16 <br /> � ' 9 <br /> Planning Commission Meeting - May 16, 1977 VARIANCE <br /> • <br /> Discussed sign location and recommended approval 3445 Shoreline Drive <br /> �sub 'ect to the (Continued) <br /> 7 property owner and the sign owner <br /> � cosigning a deed restriction to the effect that <br /> should the City or the County ever request moving <br /> � of thP sign farther from the highway right of way <br /> that such moving would be done at the <br /> � owner' s expense. <br /> � Mr. Muhich also introduced a letter from Mr.Christy <br /> � dated May 17, 1977, which states: <br /> * Regarding my application for a sign location <br /> variance. My company has a five year lease on <br /> � the property formerly occupied by Keaveny Drug. <br /> � It is my understanding that the existing pole <br /> � for my proposed sign is 35 ' 4" from the midline <br /> of County Road 15, and that your new ordinance <br /> � calls for a setback of approximately 44 ' (in <br /> anticipation of County action to widen #15) . <br /> • <br /> We agree that, upon notification by the Village <br /> � of Orono that the County is proceeding with the <br /> widening of #15, we will promptly move both <br /> � sign and pole to conform with the setback <br /> requirements. <br /> nd of letter - <br /> Council Meeting - May 23, 1977 <br /> � Butler moved, Welsh seconded, to approve the <br /> � request of Christy Realty, 3445 Shoreline Drive, <br /> for a sign location variance, per the Planning <br /> � Commission minutes of Pday 16 , 1977. Motion, <br /> Ayes (4) - Nays (0) . <br /> • <br /> i <br /> � Henry Muhich, Building & Zoning Administrator, VARIANCE � <br /> read into the record the following concerning 3425 Shoreline Drive <br /> � a variance request of Keaveny Drug, 3425 Shore- #264 <br /> • line Drive, dated May 11, 1977: Keaveny Drug <br /> � Mr. Keaveny is requesting approval of sign area <br /> exceeding 100' maximum permitted in a B-3 zone. <br /> w <br /> Mr. Keaveny is considering utilizing the existing <br /> � sign area which was previously used for sign <br /> purposes by Super Valu. He is not increasing <br /> • the area. He is only changing the message. <br /> �There would be 12 letters. Each letter square <br /> �would consi�t of 20 sq. ft. for a total of 240 sq. <br /> �. He would also replace the current 4' X 8 ' <br /> gn on the existing sign bulletin from the <br /> present message to "Eagle Drug Store" . The total <br /> �area of the two signs is 272 sq. ft.
