28. Upon completion of work, conduct continuity, short circuit and fall of potential ground te for
approval.Submit test reports to the Contractor.Clean premises of all debris resulting from ork and _
leave work in a complete and undamaged condition.
29. Sub-contractor shall coordinate with the utility company for connection of temporary and p rmanent
power to the site. The temporary power and all hookup costs to be paid by Sub-contractor.
30. IEEE Fall of Potential Tests: Ground tests shall be performed as indicated on drawings.A iddle
ground ohmer or the method of using two auxiliary ground rods(as described in IEEE stan d no.
81-1983,part 1)may be used. The IEEE method requires the use of an ac test cunenThe uxiliary
test rods must be sufficiently far away from the rod under test so that the regions in which eir
resistaace is localized do not overlap. Sub-contractor shall submit a ground resistance test the
Contrator for review and approval. After all the external ground rings are tied together but efore the -
equipment cabinet is tied down,a megger check of the ground system should be done. All orts
shall be made to achieve a 5 OHMS to ground resistance reading. The maximum allowable
resistance is 10 OHMS to ground.Where this is not achievable, inform Contractor in writin .
31. Grounding Resistance Test Report:Upon completion of the testing for each site,a test repo
showing resistance in OHMS with auxiliary potential electrodes at 5 feet and 10 feet interv s until
the average resistance starts increasing and also note t6at 10.15 photos must be taken to p f entire
external ground ring system before backfill or notify Contractor no less than 48 hours in ad ance of
backfill.Testing shall be completed by Sub-contractor and two(2)sets of test documents to be
bound and submitted within one week of work completion.
32. Coaxial Cable Installation: Coaxial cable size shall be installed as shown on the drawings. e
_ minimum bending radius for the 7/8"aad 15/8"cable is two feet(2').Coaxial cable suppo .The
coaxial cable shall be run in covered cable trays. For short distaaces the coaxial cable may e on bare -
nus with supports every four feet(4').in horizontal nins, and every three feet(3').in verti 1 nms.
The coaxial cable shall be run inside the monopole and supported from Kellum Grips with' the
monopole. From the monopole to the Primary Radio Cabinet, the cable shall be supported' covered
cable trays. The coaxial cable shall be supported on open waveguides on structural towers. e
coaxial cables shall be sealed where the cables penetrate any rooftop, bulkheads, monopole ,and
walls. _ .
33. Coaxial cable gounding:The coaxiat cables shall be gounded to a grounding bar at the ante as
using the grounding kits as specified on the drawings. The coaxial cables shall be gounded a
grounding bar at the Radio cabinet using the grounding kits as specified on the drawings. e coaxial
cables shall be gounded to.a grounding bar at the top and bottom of the monopole using the
grounding kits as specified on the drawings. The coaxial cables shall be grouaded to a gro d baz at
the bulkheads using the grounding kits as speced on the drawings.
34. Coaxial cable sweep testing:After the installation of the antenna system, the coaxial cables coaxial
cables shall be sweep tested up to 2000 Mhz.to determine the acceptability of system re loss, the
reflection coefficient,and the VSWR.
35. Grounding Electrode System
 Grouading Connections
a. All underground(below grade)grounding connections shall be made by the"cadweld" cess.
Connections shall include all cable to cable splices,Tees,Xs,etc. All cable connections o ground
CNS/[TS WEST COMMUNICATIONS ELECTRICAL MATERIALS AND ODS
SMMA NO.96419.16 16000-3 17 DEC.96
