rock driveway should either be preserved and used as a screened buffer for Lot 4 or should
be cleared, regraded, and created into an open turf grass yard. .
The view analysis for CSAH 6 has two positive views and one negative view. The positie
views are considered to be the wetland and the stand of pine trees that can be viewed from
. the roadside. The only small negative view_is the power line that runs along the road. , .
3. Natural Resource Inventory ,
a. After reviewing the MLCCS data on Figure 6 of the Orono Natural Resource
Inventory, it appears that Artificial Surfaces and Associated Areas(10000),Planted
or Cultivated Vegetation(20000), Shrubland(50000), and Herbacous (60000) areas
are present on the subject parcel. Due to map scale it is difficult to identify these
categories with great certainty.
;;:: b. A general tree survey was done by analyzing the site and categorizuig the trees on
site into the following canopy types: maple-basswood,red/white pine, evergreen, and
• buckthorn. See Figure A for more details.
" c. A wetland delineation and report was completed for the subject parcel. It was
reviewed and approved by the Minnehaha Creek Watershed Dsitrict(MCWD). The -
report was dated August 4, 2011 and is available from Svoboda Ecological Resources
(SER)upon request. •
d. The topography of the subject parcel was completed by Gronberg and Associates
and is depicted on the attached conceptual design layout.
e. The subject parcel was not identified as a conceptual greenway corridor on Figure
, , . 9 in the Orono Natural Resource Inventory. Rare plant communities were not ,.
observed on site and were not identified on Figure 10 of the Orono Natural Resource
Inventory. The subject garcel has been altered by the use of pasture for the horses and
the large amount of pine tree stands that had been planted. The disturbed state of the
parcel would imply that there is no need for management and protection of rare
communities on this site.
4. Conservation Design Master Plan
a. The existing drainage system runs from the existing house to the creek that
discharges into the wetland. The creek serves as a transport route for the onsite water
runoff. Currently the creek bed is dry but it is possible that during the spring the
creek transports the snowmelt from this site to the wetland. The topography on this
site slopes from east to west with slopes ranging from 2-10 percent. .
b. The existing drainage patterns will be maintained and a small storm water
retention pond is proposed to treat road runoff and reduce storm water phosphorus
Svoboda Ecological Resources 2700 Sixth Avenue
 Project No.:2011-012 2 Orono MN
