MINUTES OF THE ORONO COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 25, 1989
• ZONING FILE #1442 - LANDSCHUTE GROUP CONTINUED
about the headlights is addressed.
Councilmember Goetten said that would prefer to see no other
flag lots proposed because she did not feel it was proper
planning. She added that she appreciated the efforts on behalf
of Mr. Monson to work with the neighbors.
It was moved by Acting Mayor Callahan, seconded by
Councilmember Nettles, to adopt Resolution #2705 as amended to
include language pertaining to protective screening being
provided. Motion, Ayes =4, Nays =O, Motion passed.
#1445 GREGORY PETERSON
1355 ARBOR STREET
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT/VARIANCE
RESOLUTION #2706 AMENDED
Mr. and Mrs. Peterson were present for this matter.
City Administrator Bernhardson explained that the purpose of
this application was to obtain Council approval of a conditional
use permit and variance to construct a swimming pool. The
Planning Commission had recommended approval provided that the
surrounding fence be less than 6'.
• Councilmember Goetten said that she had visited the
Peterson's home and questioned whether the applicant intended to
build additional decking onto the porch?
Mr. Peterson said that they would like to have some kind of
a "tie -in" between the porch and the pool area. Mrs. Peterson
said it would be something like stepping stones.
Building and Zoning Administrator informed the Petersons
that a 10 foot separation was required between the pool and the
porch and therefore a deck could not be added. Mabusth also
advised the Petersons that they were close to the maximum
allowance for lot coverage.
Councilmember Peterson questioned whether there would be a
way to put in the pool in the other way?
Mrs. Peterson said that there is an existing sewer line that
runs through the property that prohibits them from placing the
pool anywhere other than as proposed.
Building and Zoning Administrator Mabusth indicated that she
would like to have the resolution amended to include the finding
noting the location of the sewer line in the rear yard as a
hardship.
It was moved by Councilmember Goetten, seconded by
Councilmember Nettles, to adopt Resolution #2706 as amended to
include the location of the existing sewer line. Motion, Ayes-.24r
Nays =O, Motion passed.
11
