MINUTES OF THE ORONO COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 25, 1989
#1446 JACK YOST
1515 GREEN TREES ROAD
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT/VARIANCE
RESOLUTION #2707
Mr. Yost was present for this matter, as was Mr. Don Hess,
Mr. Yost's representative.
City Administrator Bernhardson informed the Council that
this application involved a request to install retaining walls
and do land alterations within 0 -75' of the lakeshore.
Bernhardson noted that the structure currently existing was
constructed using a survey that has turned out to be incorrect.
The corrected survey places a portion of the addition in the 0-
75' setback zone. Bernhardson said that the application being
presented this evening pertained only to the retaining walls.
Building and Zoning Administrator Mabusth elaborated on the
problem with the surveys.
Councilmember Goetten said that her only concern was the
possible need for a handrail.
Mabusth explained that the applicant was proposing to use
planter boxes rather than handrails and that the City's building
code would allow such a substitution.
Councilmember Nettles questioned whether the old storm
cellar /foundation would be filled in?
Mr. Yost said that the structure had been used as a storage
facility /pump room for sprinkler system. Mr. Yost said that the
room will be filled in as part of this project.
It was moved by Councilmember Nettles, seconded by
Councilmember Goetten, to adopt Resolution #2707, approving the
Conditional Use Permit /Variance for the construction of retaining
walls within 0 -75' of the lakeshore. Motion, Ayes =4, Nays =O,
Motion passed.
#1447 LAKEVIEW GOLF COURSE
710 NORTH SHORE DRIVE WEST
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT
RESOLUTION #2708
Mr. Grant Wenkstern, owner, was present for this matter.
City Administrator Bernhardson explained that the applicant
was seeking approval of a conditional use permit to do grading
and filling in excess of 100 cubic yards.
It was moved by Councilmember Goetten, seconded by
Councilmember Peterson, to adopt Resolution #2708, approving the
Conditional Use Permit for Lakeview Golf Course. Motion, Ayes =4,
Nays =O, Motion passed.
12
•
•
•
