MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD AUGUST 24, 1987 <br />RECOGNITION OF FIRE CHIEFS CONTINUED <br />City Administrator Bernhardson mentioned that all four <br />departments are volunteer departments. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES* <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Goetten, to approve the Minutes of the <br />August 10, 1987 Council meeting as submitted. Motion, <br />Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />LAKE MINNETONKA CONSERVATION DISTRICT REPORT <br />There was no LMCD Report. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION COMMENTS <br />Planning Commissioner Bellows had no comments as this <br />time. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Irene Standa, 2659 Casco Point Road, noted a problem of <br />speeders on Casco Point Road, noting that there are many <br />little kids in the area. She also noted the accident <br />last week involving child. <br />Chief Kilbo suggested that the local residents report <br />the license plate numbers of cars speeding to the police <br />department, in addition to keeping children from playing <br />in the road. <br />City Administrator Bernhardson noted that the narrowness <br />of Casco Point Road gives the perception that cars are <br />speeding. He noted that he was contacted by Chief Kilbo <br />regarding last weeks accident and the Chief had reviewed <br />possible appropriate actions he would be taking. <br />ZONING ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT: <br />#1176 RICHARD PUTNAM <br />2765 CASCO POINT ROAD <br />VARIANCES <br />FINAL RESOLUTION <br />City Administrator Bernhardson stated that this <br />application was conceptually approved by Council at <br />their August 10th meeting. In the interim a thorough <br />review of the plat map and survey indicated that the 20' <br />strip at the east end of the survey is actually the 20' <br />dedicated for right -of -way on the plat of Spring Park, <br />although only a small portion of the actual traveled <br />roadway is within this 20' corridor. This technically <br />results in the need to grant a front (street) setback <br />variance for a 20' setback instead of the 30' required, <br />although the paved roadway will still be 40' from the <br />garage. Staff recommends final approval of the proposal <br />including this additional variance. <br />Richard Putnam was present for this matter and stated he <br />9 <br />
