MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD JANUARY 12, 1987 <br />#1093 P_ &A INVESTMENT CONTINUED <br />Councilmember Goetten stated that she was not in favor <br />of forcing private road owners into a situation they <br />are against, however, she is concerned with the safety <br />of County Rd. 6 and feels the City will be forced to <br />recognize this issue sooner or later. She is also <br />concerned about who will pay for the access. <br />ENGINEER'S REPORT: <br />MAYOR'S REPORT: <br />Councilmember Sime noted that because the developer has <br />provided an outlot for future joining of the road, he <br />was not in favor of forcing a joint Tanglewood Road <br />access at this time. <br />It was moved by Mayor Grabek, seconded by Councilmember <br />'Peterson, to direct staff to draft a resolution <br />approving the preliminary plat with outlot as presented <br />finding that the lot configuration is due to the septic <br />system locations and topography. Motion, Ayes 4, Nays <br />0. <br />City Engineer Cook had no report. <br />Mayor Grabek asked the applicants to be interviewed to <br />introduce themselves and answer the following: <br />1. Why do you want this position? <br />2. Explain your background and how your experience <br />will add to this position. <br />3. If you are not appointed, would you volunteer <br />your time in some other aspect? <br />Council Vacancy Selection - <br />f Interviews for selection of individual to fill the <br />Council seat vacated upon Jim Grabek becoming Mayor: <br />Ed Callahan - He is an attorney and has lived in Orono <br />since 1970. He served as an Orono Planning Commission <br />member and chairman for many years and filled a vacated <br />Orono Council seat from August - December 1986. He <br />feels he knows the routine and addresses problems in an <br />open minded way. <br />Charles Kellam - He has served on the Orono Planning <br />Commission for the last 5 years and as Chairman of the <br />commission in 1986. He has been an Orono resident for <br />10 years, moved to Orono for its rural characteristic <br />and wishes to control development in Orono in order to <br />maintain its uniqueness. <br />5 <br />
