MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD JANUARY 12, 1987 <br />OUNCIL VACANCY INTERVIEWS CONTINUED <br />Gary Printup - He stated that he originally sought the <br />Mayor's seat in the recent election due to his <br />perceived treatment by the past City administration to <br />the individuals in the City and he feels many residents <br />agreed with his campaign position. He has been a <br />resident in Orono for 31 years and has been involved in <br />community activities for more than 15 years noting that <br />he has been turned down in his past attempts to <br />participate actively in City issues, however he still <br />has a interest to participate. <br />Mayor Grabek commended Mr. Printup for his continued <br />desire to participate. <br />'.3 <br />Edward C. Brown III - He has lived in Orono since 1977. <br />He has a background in finance. He expressed a desire <br />to get involved in the community and would like to see <br />the Orono area preserved. <br />Thomas Casey - Councilmember Sime noted that Mr. Casey <br />was unable to attend due to business commitments, but <br />indicated to Mr. Sime that if he was not appointed to <br />the Council, he would like to participate in some other <br />aspect. <br />Julie Harren - was not present. <br />Mariann Kienzler - She is currently serving on the Park <br />Commission. She desires to serve on the Council because <br />she feels this is the position where there is more <br />impact. She has attended several Council meetings and <br />finds them fascinating. She has been an Orono resident <br />for 4 years and would like to continue to serve the <br />community. <br />Earl Dorn - He has served on the Orono Planning <br />Commission and Council in the past (1970- 1973). He <br />feels he now has the time to devote to the Council <br />because he is working less. He lives in the northwest <br />area of Orono which he feels needs some representation <br />on the Council. He feels he has the experience <br />background in real estate and capable of handling the <br />position. He noted that his philosophy has been that <br />the government should serve the people rather than vise <br />versa. <br />LaDean McWilliams - She stated that she wishes to <br />withdraw her candidacy for a Council seat. She <br />currently serves on the West Hennepin Human Services <br />Planning Board and intends to remain active in that <br />capacity. In addition, she feels she would have the <br />time in interest to serve on the Planning Commission. <br />0 <br />
