MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD JANUARY 12, 1987 <br />CABLE TV REPORT <br />There was no Cable TV Report. <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT: <br />BIG ISLAND BOARD OF GOVERNOR'S* - <br />CONCEPTUAL MASTER PLAN PRESENTATION <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, that the Big Island Board of <br />Governors be directed to submit the formal application <br />for their master plan by January 31, 1987 for <br />consideration at the February 17, 1987 Planning <br />Commission meeting with a summary presentation of the <br />master plan at the Council's February 9, 1987 meeting. <br />It is additionally directed that the hazardous building <br />proceedings be held in abeyance until March 9, 1987 to <br />monitor progress on the master plan consideration. <br />Motion, Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />LIQUOR STORE - TIMETABLE FOR SALE <br />City Administrator Bernhardson reviewed the approximate <br />timetable for sale of liquor store for Council <br />consideration. <br />It was moved Mayor Grabek, seconded by Councimember <br />Goetten, to accept staff recommendation for a timetable <br />in which to dispose of the liquor store by May 30, 1987. <br />Motion, Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />LIQUOR ORDINANCE DRAFT <br />City Administrator Bernhardson reveiwed the ordinance <br />draft amendment to existing liquor ordinance. The <br />purpose of the amendment is mainly to allow for off -sale <br />liquor together with disbanning the municipal liquor <br />store. <br />Mayor Grabek stated he had concerns regarding on -sale <br />liquor and is opposed to many liquor establishments in <br />the City. He felt the City should impose the tightest <br />restrictions possible. <br />Councilmember Goetten asked if the City has continued <br />liability with a private liquor store. <br />City Attorney Blatz stated that she did not feel the <br />City would incur any more liability with a private <br />liquor store than with any other licensed business, <br />however, she would do more research on that issue. <br />10 <br />
