The Planning <br /> Commission and Council discussed the variances in order to grant approval of the <br /> additions and felt that the proposal exaggerated the existing non-conformities of the site. <br /> Following this, the applicant brought two options to the Council in December 2009 in <br /> order to receive some additional direction. In April 2010 the applicant made an <br /> application to subdivide the property and construct a two-story building on Lot 2. A new <br /> 2,750 square foot footprint (5,500 total square feet) building was proposed. The <br /> _ enq�ineer comments included within this staff report are based on the April 21 and June <br /> 28t plans. Due to the recent Minnesota Supreme Court ruling regarding variances the <br /> applicant made changes to their initial submittal resulting in a one-story, 3,000 square <br /> foot building for Lot 2.
