1.8 Provide protective coverings and enclosures necessary to prevent damage to <br /> existing work to remain. Protect temporary openings & exterior walls. <br /> 1.9 Provide dust proof temporary enclosures separating areas under demolition <br /> & remodeling from the remainder of the building. Remove temporary work <br /> when the need no longer exists. Coordinate with Owner areas to be protected <br /> and separated as work progresses. <br /> 1.10 Every effort shall be made to keep areas requiring remodeling clean as to not <br /> disturb adjacent existing areas on a daily basis. <br /> 1.11 Work includes all demolition & removal work on the site & in the existing <br /> building as is necessary to accommodate the new construction & disposal of <br /> all removed materials & equipment; including mechanical & electrical work. <br /> Patch all areas disturbed during construction for new wiring, plumbing, <br /> structure, etc. Existing construction that is to remain which is damaged by the <br /> work shall be replaced at no additional cost. Coordinate any materials & <br /> equipment to be salvaged & turned over to Owner & relocated, or removed, <br /> as per Owner's direction. <br /> 1.12 Work includes all necessary excavation, compacted fill, backfill, granular <br /> compacted base fill for concrete slabs, rough grading, finish grading, as noted <br /> in Keynotes, & topsoil with sod to restore areas disturbed by construction to <br /> original condition. Contractor to verify location of any buried utilites prior to <br /> beginning excavation or demolition work. <br /> 1.13 Excavation work shall allow footings & foundations placed on undisturbed <br /> soil. Any soil irregularities at bottom footings which are not consistent with <br /> assumed bearing capacity for footings shall be reported to Owner before <br /> proceeding further. Organic materials, debris & unused excavation material <br /> shall be removed from site. All fill & backfill shall be a granular material & <br /> compacted to 95% of Standard Proctor Density (ASTM 698). Suitable material <br /> clean & free of organic material obtained from excavation & cutting at site <br /> may be used. Footings have been designed for a maximum soil bearing <br /> pressure of 2000 PSF. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to verify this <br /> value & insure that it will not result in damaging differential settlement. <br /> Existing topsoil to be removed & respread as finish grade. <br /> 1.14 The Contractor shall schedule the work and conduct his operations to <br /> conform with the Owner's need for use of the premises. The Contractor shall <br /> cooperate with Owner in setting the construction schedule to meet this <br /> requirement and allow Owner access during the construction period. The <br /> issue of security to the building is of primary concern to the Owner during <br /> construction and the Contractor shall coordinate with Owner in the securing <br /> 4 <br />
