.
Smith Dump
December 7, 2009
Page 2
complete survey and site plan that identifies the eYtent of the dump use, and documents the
results of wetland delineation and septic system site evaluation.
It is our understanding that the property has been enrolled in the Voluntary Investigation and
Cleanup (VIC) program, assigned MPCA Site ID #VP2470, and remains in an Active status as
an Unpermitted Dump Site (i.e. operated prior to MPCA creation in 1967). We have not
requested nor received any information from the MPCA about any investigation activity that
may be underway with reards to this site as part of the VIC program.
We would like documentation of the results of the VIC program - copies of any Phase I or Phase
II Investigations that were completed, documentation of any recommended or completed actions
resulting from those investigations, and some form of`written assurance' from MPCA that
provides documentation of that agency's position regarding whether any action is required for
the site. I assume this would be in one of the standard formats used b the MPCA, such as a
Technical Assistance Ietter, a No Action letter, or a Certificate of Completion.
Enclosed is a copy of the information the City has been providing to those who inquire about the
property. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 92-219-4600.
Sincerely,
.
Michael P. Gaffron
Asst.
