<br />ORONO STUDENTS INVOLVED IN GERMANY EXCHANGE PROGRAM
<br />Recently Dr. Kent Winter, Principal of Orono High
<br />School, was notified by .lermaine Arendt, Chairman of
<br />the Minnesota -Baden Wuerttemberg High School Student
<br />Exchange Program, that four of Orono's sophomores
<br />have been accepted as participants in the 1987-1.988
<br />Program. Kevin Bloemendaal, Eric Bowman, Nick Coult
<br />and Lisa Zumbusch and their families will be hosting
<br />four students from the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg,
<br />Germany from September, 1987 to December, 1987. From
<br />April, 1988 to July, 1988 the German students and
<br />their families will reciprocate. For four months
<br />these "partners" will he able to experience a foreign
<br />culture in depth - living with a family, traveling,
<br />attending school each day and speaking a foreign lan-
<br />guage. These students are to bo congratulated for
<br />their courage and adventurous spirit.
<br />Recent participants from Orono in this program have
<br />been: Theresa Nygard, Brian Silus, Gretchen Gerding,
<br />Kristin Neumann, and Matt Bower. All have lauded
<br />it as a fantastic program and felt it was "the only
<br />way to really leatn a foreign language."
<br />NOTICE - - - - -SENIOR CLASS PARENTS!
<br />Plans for the All -Night Senior Party on Jun( 4th are
<br />progressing nicely. Many fun filled activities have
<br />been planned to make this a memorable evening for
<br />your Senior.
<br />If you have not signed your Senior up, you should do
<br />so immediately. Payment of the one time, non-refund-
<br />able $50.00 fee should be included as well a% an
<br />early age photograph. If ,ou have anv questions

<br />POP CONCERT TIME
<br />The Orono High School Band Annual Pop Concert will be
<br />held in the High School Auditorium on Thursday and
<br />Friday, April 23 and 24. Many skits and acts will be
<br />featured including dance lines, rhythmic gymnastics,
<br />jazz ensembles, and a number of excellent soloists.
<br />Tickets are $2.00 each and can be reserved through the
<br />High School office or purchased at the door.
<br />BANDS DONATE TALENT
<br />As a fund raising effort for the High School Bands.
<br />three rock bands will donate their talents at a dance
<br />for Orono High School students. Orono Band members
<br />who will be bringing their bands are Kevin Ziehweirt
<br />and his Blasphemous Hoodoos, Bill Mann and Wally Schl-
<br />eisman and the Secret Service, Josh Smith and Life -
<br />Like. The cost is $3.00 per person.

<br />A joint District Career Exploration Night cc -sponsored
<br />by Hopkins, Minnetonka, Orono, St. Louis Park, Wayzata,
<br />and Westonka counselors has been organized for April 7
<br />at the Minnetonka High School. The evening will run
<br />from 7:U0 until 9:15 p.m. A varied program has been
<br />planned. At 7:00 a play and slide show entitled Be
<br />Someone Be a Star will be presented. At 7:45 three
<br />concurrert sessionb will be held; Today's Trends -
<br />Tomorrow's .lobs, Parents' Role in Career Planning,
<br />and After College, Then What? Following this there
<br />will be fourteen career areas fir you to explore.
<br />Each presentation will be given twice, so that you
<br />may hear more than one speaker. The speakers ,are
<br />community people who have been success` 1 in their
<br />chosen careers.
<br />The evening is divided so that you may enjoy all of
<br />the events planned or just take part in those things
<br />that are of interest to you. The program is planned
<br />essentially fur students in grades eight through
<br />twelve, but all members .if the community are invited.
