Zoning File #1074 <br />December 3, 1986 <br />Page 4 <br />The second sign plan required the following variances: <br />Sign Area: <br />Allowed = 12 s.f. <br />Proposed = 61.6 s.f. <br />Variance = 49.6 s.f. or 413% <br />Sign Height: <br />Allowed = 8' <br />Proposed = 11'9" <br />Variance = 3'9" or 49% <br />The Planning Commision voted to deny this sign plan finding the <br />variances still two excessive and specifically recommended the <br />"standard" 9 feet high model (review Exhibit G) limiting variances as <br />follows: <br />A) Height: <br />Allowed = <br />8' <br />Proposed <br />= 9' <br />Variance <br />= 1' or 12.5% <br />B) Area: <br />Allowed = <br />12 s.f. <br />Proposed <br />= 39 s.f. <br />Variance <br />= 27 s.f. or 225% <br />The applicant talked with staff regarding the vote of the <br />Planning Commis: -ion and once again raised the question of the height <br />and signage areas of church signs within the Navarre area. Staff <br />advised that they make a survey of these signs and take photos of the <br />signs so that Council could relate to specific facts. <br />The enclosed resolution has been drafted without designating <br />specific variances awaiting Council's action. <br />
