City of ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />NO. - -- - <br />i:..`s-.��'`>>`� A RESOLUTION GRANTING <br />�.. VARIANCES TO <br />MUNICIPAL ZONING CODE <br />SECTION 10.61, SUBDIVISION 2 (A) 6 (C) <br />FILE 01074 <br />WHEREAS, Lowell Zitzloff, an authorized agent of the Grace <br />Baptist Church located at 2380 Shadywood Road within the City of Orono <br />(hereinafter the "City") and legally described as Lot 5, Block 3, <br />Townsite of Langdon Park and Lots 19, 20, 21 and 22 Wiley's Navarre <br />Addition, Lake Minnetonka (hereinafter "the property"); and <br />WHEREAS, the applicant has applied to the City for variances <br />to Municipal Zoning Code Section 10.61, Subdivision 2 (A) & (C) to <br />permit the installation of a sign totaling _ square feet of signage <br />area where only 12 square feet is allowed and _ feet in height where <br />only 8 feet is allowed. <br />Minnesota: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Orono, <br />FINDINGS <br />1. This application was reviewed as Zoning File #;1074. <br />2. The property is located in the LR-lC Lakeshore Residential <br />Zoning District. <br />3. The Orono Planning Commission reviewed this application on <br />November 17. 1986, and recommended approval of variances for an <br />amended sign plan based upon the following findings: <br />A) The sign will not interfere with the functioning of <br />traffic signals or signage nor pose hazards for users of <br />public roadways. <br />B) The church has had a sign in excess of required <br />standards within the street yard for several years without <br />any reports of problems. <br />C) The unique shape of the lot and the location of the <br />church building in relation to the approved height and <br />proposed location of the sign will serve to lessen the <br />impact of such structure. <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
