MINNETONKA POWER SQUADRON BYLAWS <br />Page 14 <br />6.10.3 Carry on the normal business of the Squadron <br />between meetings of the Membership. <br />6.10.4 Establish committees and appoint members <br />thereto as may seem advisable in the best interests of <br />the Squadron. <br />6.10.5 Consult with and advise the Commander <br />regarding his appointment of Members to offices or <br />committees provided for herein. <br />6.10.6 With the advice of the Treasurer, designate <br />depositories in which the Squadron's funds shall be kept; <br />and approve the budget for submission to the members. <br />6.10.7 Enforce the authority given to it under these <br />Bylaws and take any action necessary to advance the best <br />interests of the Squadron not inconsistent with the <br />policy and authority of USPS. <br />GENERAL COMMITTEES <br />Section 6.11 The NOMINATING COMMITTEE shall be composed of <br />six (6) active members. Three (3) shall be past Commanders and <br />three (3) shall be non-past Commanders. Each shall serve a three <br />(3) year term. To fill the vacancy(s) occasioned by resignation <br />or the expiration of the term(s), one or more member(s) shall be <br />nominated from the floor each year and elected at the annual <br />meeting. Should a member resi~n from the committee or otherwise <br />be unable to complete a three (3) year term, a majority of the <br />committee may elect a replacement member to serve until the next <br />general election. A member of this committee shall not be <br />disqualified because of such membership for nomination as a <br />candidate for election to the executive committee, but shall be <br />ineligible for nomination and election to any of the elective <br />offices under Article V, Section 5.03 through 5.08 inclusive <br />-14- <br />MINNETONKA POWER SQUADRON BYLAWS <br />Page 15 <br />of the Bylaws, or to serve a succeeding term on this committee. <br />The committee shall select a candidate for each elective office <br />provided herein to be balloted upon at the next annual meeting <br />and shall submit its written report to the Secretary no later <br />than 15 October of each year. <br />Section 6.12 The RULES COMMITTEE shall be composed of six <br />(6) active members. To fill the vacancy occasioned by the <br />expiration of a term, two (2) members shall be nominated each <br />year for a three (3) year term by the Nominating Committee and <br />elected at the Annual Meeting. Should a member resign from the <br />Committee or otherwise be unable to complete a three (3) year <br />term, a majority of the Committee may elect a replacement member <br />to serve until the next general election. This committee is the <br />guardian of adherence to USPS's constitution and Bylaws, USPS <br />policy, district Bylaws, and Squadron Bylaws. The committee <br />shall keep up-to-date with the "Hodel Bylaws for Squadrons of <br />USPS" and prepare recommendations as necessary to keep the <br />Squadron's Bylaws consistent with the policy and authority of <br />USPS. It shall prepare proposed wording for amendments as may be <br />directed by the Executive Committee or by the membership. <br />Section 6.13 The AUDITING COMMITTEE shall be composed of <br />three (3) active members. To fill the vacancy occasioned by the <br />expiration of a term, one member shall be nominated each year for <br />a three (3) year term by the Nominating Committee and elected at <br />the Annual Meeting. Should a member resign from .the committee or <br />otherwise be unable to complete a three year term, a majority of <br />the Committee may elect a replacement member to serve until the <br />next general election. It shall examine all records of the <br />Treasurer and conduct an audit annually as of a date fixed by the <br />Executive Committee and report its findings to the membership at <br />the next Annual or General Meeting. <br />STANDING COMMITTEES <br />Section 6.14 Certain Standing Committees shall report to <br />the Executive Committee: <br />6.14.1 The STREATER COVE COMMITTEE is composed of <br />Active Members sufficient in number to carry out its <br />responsibilities. The Chairperson shall be appointed by <br />the Commander, and is responsible for maintaining and <br />protecting the Streater Cove Property including landi <br />buildings, and equipment.
