Questions concerning Big Island Orono's lake setback policy and drainage were (Continued) discussed. Motion was withdrawn. Paurus moved, welsh seconded, to refer the Building permit of John Lambin for George Hanson, Big Island, be referred to the Planning Commission. Motion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0). Mr. Howard Mleagher presented a resolution adopted LAKE MINNETONKA by the Lake Minnetonka Association to Mayor ASSOCIATION RESOLUTION Searles which stated that: "The undersigned, Richard A. Hassel, Secretary of the Lake Minnetonka Association, a Minnesota nonprofit corporation, hereby certifies that the following resolution was duly adopted by action of a majority of the directors of the Association at a meeting held on June 10, 1976: Resolved: That the Lake Minnetonka Association is deeply concerned about maintaining adequate water safety on Lake Minnetonka. At this time, insufficient funds have been allocated by the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department in order to continue an adequate water safety patrol program. In past years, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department has taken on the responsibility of providing, and has in fact provided, effective water safety activities on Lake Minnetonka. At the present time, however, this county program has all but stopped and as a result, a cz_tical problem in the form of a void of regulating water safety on Lake Minnetonka has been created. The result of this void raises fear that the inevitable result will be personal injury and the possible loss of life to those persons using Lake Minnetonka. Therefore, the Board of Directors of the Lake Minnetonka Association strenouslj encourage the reiristitution of the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department Water Patrol on Lake 1-tinnetonka to a strength and level which will provide effective and efficient water safety on Lake Minnetonka and, further, the Lake Minnetonka Association urges the 15 municipalities which are members of the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District to support this position in whatever ways may be within their power. Executed this loth day of June, 1976." Mayor Searles stated that he will attend the Medina MOONEY LAKE STUDY City Council meeting July 6, 1976 and convey to then Orono's policy concerning the Mooney Lake study and Orono's action not to participate at this time.
