ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD JUNE 28, 1976 <br />Page 10 <br />flavor Searles announced that the regularly PLANNING COMMISSION <br />scheduled Planning Commission meeting of July 5, JULY MEETING DATE <br />1976, will be postponed to July 6, 1976. The <br />Planning Commission chose to cancel the July 6, <br />1976 meeting and will hold their regular meeting <br />on July 19, 1976. <br />11r. John Lambin submitted plans to rebuild a BUILDIMG PERMIT <br />home destroyed by fire for Mr. George Hanson, Big Island <br />Big Island. fir. Lambin requested waiving <br />referral tc: the Planning Commission to allow <br />him to proceed with construction. <br />Butler moved, Searles seconded, to waive referral <br />to the Planning Commission. Questions concerning <br />Orono's '_ake setback policy and drainage were <br />discussed. Notion was withdrawn. <br />Paurus moved, Welsh seconded, to refer the <br />building permit of John Lambin for George <br />Hanson, Big Island, be referred to the Planning <br />Commission. Notion, Ayes (5) - Nays (0). <br />iir. Howard Meagher presented a resolution adopted SAKE flINNETONKA <br />by the Lake Minnetonka Association to Mayor ASSOCIATION RESOLUTION <br />Searles which stated that: <br />"The undersigned, Richard A. Hassel, Secretary <br />of the Lake Minnetonka Association, a Minnesota <br />nonpro-'it corporation, hereby certifies that the <br />following resolution was duly adopted by action <br />of a majority of the directors of the Association <br />at a -.sting held on June 10, 1975: <br />Resolved: That the Lake llinnetonka Association is <br />deeply concerned about maintaining adequate water <br />safety on Lake Piinnetonka.. At this time, insufficient <br />funds have been allocated by the Hennepin County <br />Sheriff's Department in order to continue an adequate <br />water safety patrol program. In past years, the <br />Hennepin County Sheriff's Department has taken on <br />the responsibility of providing, and has in fact <br />provided, effective water safety activities on Lake <br />Piinnetonka. At the present time, however, this <br />county program has all but stopped and as a result, <br />a critical problem in the form of a void of regulat.nq <br />water safety on Lake Minnetonka has been created. <br />The result of this void raises fear that the inevitable <br />result will be personal injury and the possible loss <br />of life to those persons using Lake Minnetonka. <br />Therefore, the Board of Directors of the Lake Minnetonka <br />Association strenously encourage the reinstitution <br />of, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department !-later <br />(Continued) <br />
