283. PRO"V10"RY PIMIOD <br />1. The probationary period shall be regarded as an integral part <br />of the selection process and shall be utilized for observing the <br />employee's work, for securing the most effective adjustment of the <br />employee to the employee's position, and for rejecting any <br />employee whose performance does not meet the required work <br />standards. <br />' Duration. All original and promotion&: appointments shall he <br />;aobationary at:d subject to a probationary period of one (1) year <br />of continuous service after appointment. At any time during the <br />original probationary period, an employee may be transferred or <br />dismissed in the vole discretion of the City without any !i <br />administrative he- g. At any time during the prom 0titinaI <br />probationary perio, an employee may be placed in the position <br />occupied previous to promotion. <br />3. ?erforman-e :-ports. At the and of every three (3) months of <br />the probationary .:riod the employee's immediate supervisor shall <br />submit a written report to the City Administrator based on <br />o',servation of the employee's work and the supervisor's judgment <br />33 to the e+npinyev's willingness and ability to perform job duties <br />satisfactorily. A copy of this report will be given to the <br />c-+pIoyee. <br />4. !tow Completed. At least ten (10) days prior to the <br />expiration of an employee's probationary period, the employee's <br />immediate supervisor shall make a written report to the City <br />Administrator recommending the employee be retained, dismissed, or <br />placed in the employee's previous position. A copy of this report <br />will be given to the employee. <br />S. Lea-:e Benefits During Probation. During the initial <br />probationary period, but not during a promotional probationary <br />period, an employee will not be paid for vacation leave from w.;rk <br />but will receive pay for legal paid holidays. After six (6) <br />months of service, an employee will be -ntitled to vacation leave <br />accrued from the start of probationary employment. Group health <br />and welfare benefits shall start a month after the first day of <br />the month f-31lowing appointment; however, any waiting periods <br />shall be according to the terms of the group health polity. so <br />payment will be sad* for accrued leave during the probationary <br />period. Sick leave benefits shall accrue and accrued sick leave <br />may be used during probation. <br />i. Probationary Period.
