Status Report Memo
Page 2
The metal shed at 3393, located less than 10 feet from the side property
line, is not permanent (measures 9.5' x 17' for a total of 161. 5 sf ) . A
building permit would have been required since the area of the
structure is over 120 sf . A building permit was not applied for. The
161.5 sf would be considered hardcover within the 75-250' setback
area. Metal sheds of this pref abricated/Sears type appear everywhere
in our City without permits.
Does Council want the resident advised that he must apply for a permit?
Should we request a penalty payment?
In an earlier variance review, we already noted that applicant had an
excess of hardcover within the 75-250' setback area.
Does Council want a hardcover review done for 3385 Crystal Bay Road?
Point C in Jerry Wheeler's letter:
"C) Mr. Carl is presently storing two boats in his front yard which
could easily be carried into his back yard (where one of them was stored
last year)."
Staff's comments regarding Point C:
C) There were no boats stored witin the front yard of 3385 Crystal Bay
Road as of June 17th and 20th.
Point D in Jerry Wheeler's letter:
"D) Mr. Johnson has his firew00% piled directly along our lot line.
This wood pile (and his storage shed) is a breeding place for rodents,
an eyesore and a fire hazard (there is gasoline stored in the shed
also). These items directly affect us and our safety and they should
be moved."
Staff's comments regarding Point D:
D) The City has no setback standards for wood piles. The wood pile is
neatly stacked. The gasoline stored for lawn mower purposes is safer
stored in the metal shed to the rear of the property than within the
principal structure.
Point E in Jerry Wheeler's letter:
"E) Mr. Johnson also has a pile of rotting wood piled neat our back lot
line which is a general eyesore, a health hazard and a fire hazard. I
wnat this tagged and removed immediately."
