COUNCIL rViFETIHG <br />JUN 24 19�5 <br />CITY Cyr P <br />TO: Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Mark Bernhardson, City Administrator <br />DATE: June 20, 1985 <br />SUBJECT: Metro Council Population Estimates 1970 to the year 2000 <br />Handed out last Council meeting and again attached this time are <br />Metro Council's estimates for population, household and <br />employment for the years 1970, 1980, 19`1j0 and the year 2000 <br />specifically they are anticipating that between now and the year <br />2000 that: <br />- Orono's population will remain stable at about 7000 <br />- employment will increase from 500 to 600 <br />- that Orono's number of households will increase from <br />approximately 2400 units to 2700 units <br />As you may recall these estimates are used to assist in <br />developing their systems planning for things such as transit, <br />sewer, water, etc. It is our initial impression based on current <br />activity that the figures for household and population may be <br />slightly low but I intend to review those during the next few <br />weeks. <br />If you have any questions or comments please feel free to ontact <br />me. <br />
