County Road 15 - The variance hearing will be conducted at
9:20 A.M. Friday, June 14, 1985 in St. Paul. Attached
please find Hennepin County's outline for variance request.
John Cerhardson and myself will be attending.
referred Compensation - Presently I am aware of 4 different
compensation plans which qualify for public employees in the
State of Minnesota. Presently the City of Orono offers 3 of
those. These are available to all employees including part
time employees and councilmembers. The restrictions on any
of these plans are a maximum of $7,500 per year or 25% of the
income with that employer which ever is less. For those
interested a meeting will be held at 4:00 P.M., Tuesday,
July 9, 1985, with a representative from the ICMA Retirement
Corporation. Additional meetings will be scheduled later for
the representatives of the other two. Presently we are
exploring the one other qualified plan Aetna just to see if
there are advantages to also include this one for the
employees of the City.
5. Sale To Minor Violation - The County Attorney's office has
U—ecideed not to issue an indictment in the case based on the
investigations. Per your direction we are attempting to
contact the employees' a torney regarding the offer discussed
May 13th. It is anticipated that an administrative hearing
on the matter wi 11 be held later this week.
Public Access/DNR - As you may have noticed in the paper DNR
awe Been given permission to exercise their authority of
eminent domain to acquire public access on Christmas Lake.
Additionally DNR has been seeking permission to implement
Lake Minnetonka Task Force recommendation regarding the lake
access on the southern and weP am sides of the lake.
Additionally of the approximate. 1,100 spots currently
existing that had been identifie_ .y the Task Force, DNR
feels 182 clearly meet their qualifications for secured long
term boat access with their ultimate goal being 700. In
particular thes, spots that have been discussed on North
Shore Drive east of the Hendrickson bridge are ones which
they will be seeking long term commitments. In 1982 there
was an apparent Orono position that absent significant public
safety considerations that those spots and others identified
should be be commited for the long term. It is anticipated
that we further discuss this issue on July 8th in conjunction
with the North Shore issue being brought back to the Council
on the parking and safety issue.
