- 10 - <br />space for 50 cars. Bike and "walk in" access would also be <br />available at this point. The drive and parking area are <br />limited in size to minimize "hard cover" on the site. <br />b. Visitor Center: A visitor center of approximately 1,800 <br />square feet is proposed. It will be the first thing <br />experienced by all visitors coming into the garden off of <br />County Road 51. The center should include a lobby and <br />reception area, and a classroom/lounge capable of <br />accommodating up to 80 people. Restrooms, a small office and <br />area for storage area provided. An outside patio is also <br />anticipated. The architectural stale should recall that of <br />the former house that should also be replicated in the <br />memorial arbor. <br />c. ForYnal Garden: The formal garden starts from the visitor <br />center. Several key characteristics anticipated in the <br />fonnal garden include: <br />o A carefully designed sequence of experiences <br />o Enclosures and intimate spaces <br />o Forma' beds in geometric designs with color schemes <br />o Views to other architectural features, the manicured <br />grounds, and the Lake <br />o Use of garden structures: benches, arbors, walls, <br />terrace, [)ools and fountains <br />Special consideration will be given to selecting plant <br />materials and garden features that will be of interest on a <br />year-round basis.
