High Points: There are four high points in the park, each <br />with unique characteristics. They are potential sites for <br />areas overlooking the fo nnal garden, the rest of the estate <br />or the lake. <br />2, Major Components of the Plan <br />In looking at the existing features of the Noerenberg site and the <br />design elements of estate gardens discussed previously, two <br />distinctly different concept plans were developed. The first of <br />these, "A. Traditional Estate Garden," is recommn,,nded. A second <br />"Modified Estate Garden" concept with a long drive through the park <br />with parking near the channel was also considered. The <br />"Traditional" concept is recorinended by the Committee. It includes <br />the following elements and features: <br />a. _ar : In a traditional estate garden, the entry was <br />important as it gave hints of the garden to come. In this <br />concept, the driveway is short with entrance thru a "grand <br />gate" indicating the "elegance" of what is tc follow. The <br />drive takes the visitor to the visitor center first, as it <br />would take a guest to the hone. Landscape plantings near the <br />entrance and along the road to the east will add to the <br />"grand gate" entrance to the Estate. <br />The present entry point would be retained with another pillar <br />added to the east creating separate entrance and exit gates. <br />Additional landscape plantings would be added to enhance the <br />"grand gate" feeling. The parking area would be limited to <br />
