Harrington <br />Metropolitan Waste Control Commission <br />350 Metro Square Building <br />7th & Robert Streets <br />St. Paul, Minnesota 55101 <br />Subject: Orono -Long Lake Interceptor <br />Dear Mr. Harrington: <br />The City of Orono is in receipt of your letter of January 4, 1978 <br />regarding the Orono -Long Lake interceptor project. After reviewing <br />your letter, it is apparent that we should restate some of the <br />facts as they relate to the City's position on the Orono -Long Lake <br />interceptor in the following areas: <br />1. The City does not concur with the provisions of the <br />Engineering Report in as much as the sewer service <br />area is incorrectly shown for the Orono -Long Lake <br />interceptor. The sewer service area map contained in <br />the Engineering Report still shows Maple Plain, <br />Independence Beach area in Medina, Morris T. Baker Park <br />Reserve, and the Vo -Tech School site as part of the <br />Orono -Long Lake interceptor designated service area. <br />These four areas were specifically excluded from the <br />sewer service area by action of the Metropolitan Council <br />in August of 1976. <br />2. In October of 1976, the City did complete its Comprehensive <br />Sewer Plan and presented it to the Metropolitan Waste <br />Control Commission for your review and approval. Fourteen <br />months have now elapsed and vet the Metropolitan Waste <br />Control Commission has not made a final determination on <br />our Comprehensive Sewer Plan. <br />3. We have had many meetings with the Metropolitan Waste <br />Control Commission staff together with the Metropolitan <br />Council staff in regard to requested modifications to our <br />plan. These changes to the Comprehensive Plan were <br />culminated in an agreement reached in March of 1977 which <br />resulted in our amended plan dated April of 1977.
