WASHINGTON COUNTY <br />o Growth, solid waste and other regional issues are also of concern to <br />counties outside the seven -county Metropolitan Area. They need to be <br />included in future planning. - Sally Evert, Washington County Board of <br />Commissioners chair <br />o When regional issues become critical, we often lose sight of local control <br />and individuals rights. - Chuck Hoffman, state representative, District 55B <br />o A. water commission could be set up to deal with surface water management. <br />- Bill Diessner, state senator, District 56 <br />CITY OF MINNEAPOLIS <br />o Development of riverfront project should continue. <br />o People living outside of Minneapolis should help pay operation and <br />maintenance costs of parks because they use parks more than Minneapolis <br />residents. <br />o Low-income persons are not being fully considered in the park planning <br />procers. They do not have the opportunity to visit outlying regional <br />parks. <br />o Need to deal with intercity rivalry, such as that which exists between <br />Minneapolis and Bloomington. A stronger metropolitan planning r-ole woul-I <br />be required to solve this problem. - Don Fraser, mayor of Minneapolis <br />o The Metropolitan. Council should look at structural unemployment as a <br />regional problem.
