REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL <br />ORGANIZED CURBSIDE RESIDENTIAL SINGLE -SORT <br />RECYCLING COLLECTION SERVICES <br />RECYCLING CONTAINERS <br />Single-family homes: You must provide recycling carts (around 64 gallons, smooth surface, consistent <br />color, clearly marked with recycling symbols and instructions). You must maintain a supply of new <br />and replacement carts, offer additional and/or alternative size (30- and 90-gallon) carts upon request <br />at no extra charge, and distribute carts and recycling information before October 1 (or another <br />agreed -upon date) to avoid service interruptions. Multi -family buildings: If a complexjoins the <br />program, you must provide containers that are large enough for all recyclables between pickups. <br />These should be placed in central recycling stations. <br />PICKUP SCHEDULE <br />Recycling collection must happen every other week on the same day for all households, unless <br />approved and published in the recycling calendar or the city approves a different schedule. <br />WHAT HAPPENS AFTER PICKUP <br />You must also process and market (sell) the collected materials. This can be done by you or a <br />subcontractor. <br />COLLECTION <br />WHO GETS SERVICE <br />All homes, multi -family units, and city -owned buildings must receive curbside service. For homes <br />with long or inaccessible driveways, you must work with the city and the resident to find a practical <br />solution (e.g., walk-up service or smaller trucks). <br />PICKUP TIMING <br />Recycling is picked up every other week. Residents must set out carts by 7 am on collection day. No <br />pickups before 7 am or after 7 pm. Drivers must return carts to the same spot (not in the street) and <br />handle them with care. <br />WRONG ITEMS IN BIN <br />If a resident sets out non-recyclables, leave those in the bin along with a city -approved education tag <br />explaining acceptable materials and proper recyclable material preparation. <br />CLEANUP RESPONSIBILITIES <br />Hauler must clean up any spills during collection. Trucks must carry a broom and shovel. Hauler is <br />not responsible for taking non -recyclable items. <br />Page 7 of 27 <br />39 <br />
