r <br /> ORDINANCE N0. 2p2 <br /> AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE MUNICZpAL CODE <br /> OF THE CITY OF ORONO BY ADDING CHAPTER 69C <br /> ESTABLISHING THE LICENSING OF <br /> MECHANICAL AMUSEMENT DEVICES � <br /> �e City Council of Orono ordains: • <br /> Section 1. �he Municipal Oode of the City of Orono is <br /> amended by adding Chapter 69C as follows: <br /> CHAPTER 69C <br /> Mechanical Amuselnent Devices <br /> 69C.010 Definitions. Mechanical Amusement Devices. As used <br /> here ni a mechanical amusement device is defined as a machine <br /> which, upon the insertion of a coin, token or slug, operates or <br /> may be operated for use as a game, contest or amusement of any <br /> description, or which may be used for any such game, contest or <br /> amusement, and which contains no automatic pay-off device for the <br /> return of money coins, checks, tokens or merchandise, or which <br /> provides for no such pay-off by any other means or manner. The <br /> term mechanical amusement devices shall include pin-ball machines, <br /> mechanical miniature pool tables, bowling machines, shuffleboards, <br /> electric rifle or gun ranges, miniature mechanical devices and <br /> games or amusements patterned after baseball, b asketball, hockey, <br /> tennis, soccer, juke boxes and similar games, which may be used <br /> solely for amusement and not as gambling devices. <br /> A pin-ball machine is a mechanical amusement device commonly <br /> known as a pinball machine which basically operates on the prin- <br /> ciple of a projected rolling ball or series of f lashing lights <br /> which indicates a score. - <br /> 69C.020. License Required. No person shall operate or rent, <br /> lease, or otherwise make available to another person to operate <br /> within the City of Orono a mechanical amusement device, as herein <br /> before defined�, without first obtaining both an owners license <br /> and also a machine license therefor from the City Clerk , but <br /> no such license shall be issued for any machine or device which <br /> is a gambling device. <br /> 69C.030. plication. Every application for such license shall <br /> state the escription of the mechanical amusement device for <br /> which license is to be issued, the place where the device is to <br /> be maintained and used, �he place of residence of the applicant, <br /> and such other information as the City Clerk shall require. <br />
