SPECIAL PROVISIONS 1. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project provides for the grading, gravel base, and bituminous surfacing on Woodhill Avenue. 2. OWNER: The City of Orono is designated as the Owner of the project. All work shall be on public right-of-way or easements obtained by the Owner. 3. COMPLETION DATE: The contractor shall start work within 15 days afar award of the contract and complete the project by July 15, 1988. 4. LIQUIDATED DAMAGES: Liquidated damages as specified in the General Condi- tions of the Contract shall be One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) per calendar day. 5. SPECIFICATION REVISION: Where the Minnesota Department of transportation specifications are referred to herein and where a reference to the word •State• is mentioned, it is understood that the word •Owner' is substituted. All reference to the word 'Engineer" shall be interpreted as the Engineer for the City of Orono. Minnesota Department of Transportation Specifications for Highway Construction, 1983 Edition and revisions thereto shall apply except as noted herein. 6. TRAFFIC: Traffic control :;tu:ll be the responsibility of the Contractor. All flagmen, barricades, flares and safety measures are the sole responsibil- ity of the Contractor. Flares or approved flashers shall be required from sunset to sunrise in the areas under construction. The contractor shall re- view barricades and signing placement with the Engineer. Traffic control shall be incidental to the construction. 7. SCALE: The Contractor shalt provide the necessary scale and scale person for weighing the items furnished on a ton basis under these specifications. The scale setup is subject to the approval of the engineer. The necessary weights used in testing the scale shall be provided by the Contractor. 8. SOIL CONDITIONS: All Co:itrzctors are advised to inspect the entire project area and verify soil conditions to their own satisfaction prior to submitting a bid. 9. WATER: Where water is required in the work specified herein, it shall be provided by the contractor. No payment will be made for water placed on the project. It shall be con- sidered incidental to the aggregate base construction. 10. UTILITIES: Known underground utilities are shown on the plans. It shall be the responsibility of tine Cont--actor to check with all utility coo-:)anies to determine the exact location:, of al.i utilities within the project area. SP-1 OR13934
