Hansen <br />would like to purchase some of these books, it would be $16.00 for <br />25 copies. Also, a video tape "Pioneers b Video Television" is also <br />available for $13.00. <br />Motion 3.15.88.3: Anderson moved, seconded by Johnson, to purchase <br />25 books for $16.00 and the tape for $13.00. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />C. DOWDEN CABLESYSTEMS <br />Mary Smith handed out her monthly report. <br />Connections 248 <br />Disconnects 72 <br />Net Gain 176 <br />Dowden made a program change on Channel 23. PTL was taken off and <br />EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network) was put on. Mary Smith said <br />that Dowden received approximately 20 to 25 complaints. Tom Creighton <br />asked if there was a pattern on any disconnects since the channel <br />chancle. Smith stated that at this time there has been no pattern <br />of disconnects. <br />Technical: There have been occasional sun outages. 'These outages <br />occur in the afternoons due to the positions of the earth and sun <br />during the months of March and October. Outages can last from a few <br />minutes up to ten minutes. <br />IV. REGIONAL CHANNEL 6 <br />Mary Smith informed the Commission that the fiber optic link to the <br />IDS Center from WCCO with a microwave hop from IDS to the Mound <br />headend site has been rejected. The reason for the rejection was it <br />was not economically feasible. <br />Smith stated that at this time Dowden does not. have any answers to <br />get the signal for Regional Channel 6. If Dowden cannot find a <br />solution then LMCCC may try to get some answers with the sale of <br />Dowden. The Commission may choose to deny the transfer if Triax <br />cannot provide the signal. <br />Hansen :suggested to invite Jim Sullivan, WCCO'e: Engineer, to talk with <br />the Commission about ideas and ways to get the signal. Also, fiber <br />optics may be comming to the Excelsior phone company sometime in <br />April. Hansen feels fiber optics should be looked at more closely for <br />a solution. <br />V. DOWDEN SALE <br />Regional Channel f: is a part of the franchise. An agreement should <br />be made with Triax before the tran!ifer is a(-cept.ed. <br />Tom Creighton informed t.i;c. Commission that the franchise requires <br />that the Commission inform Triax (buyer) within 30 days if the <br />Commi:;sion wants to hold a public he'tring. <br />
