Mabusth, Building & Zoning Administrator <br />Date: January 19, 1988 <br />Subject: official Policy Establishing Deadline Dates for the Review of <br />Land Use Applications <br />The Planning Commission approved the proposed policy establishing <br />deadline dates for the filing of land use applications and applications <br />tabled during the process of review. The proposed policy motion was not <br />unanimiously approved. The minority opinion of one felt that the deadline <br />dates for the submittal of applications should be extended to include an <br />additional week allowing staff time to review applications so that the <br />public hearing notice can be published. The member also noted that too <br />often staff discovers important supportive information lacking after a <br />public hearing has already been published in the paper.. Staff would concur <br />that the additional week prior to that publication deadline date would help <br />but that in most cases, additional information sougl.c arises from the more <br />in-depth staff review that may occur a week before the Planning Commission <br />meeting and the public hearing notice already 'olished and application <br />scheduled on the official agenda. <br />Staff would ask that we present the proposed policy for Council review <br />and approval on the Council agenda of February 8, 1988. <br />
