MINUTES OF THE ORONO COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 25, 1989 <br />#1450 WARD EDWARDS <br />2474 CARMAN STREET <br />RENEWAL VARIANCE <br />RESOLUTION #2709* <br />It was moved by Councilmember Goetten, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, to adopt Resolution #2709, approving the <br />renewal variance application for an average lakeshore setback <br />variance, lakeshore setback variance, and hardcover variance <br />within the 0-75' setback area. Motion, Ayes=4, Nays=O, Motion <br />passed. <br />#1451 GEORGE & THERESA BLOOM <br />1374 REST POINT ROAD <br />VARIANCE <br />RESOLUTION #2710 <br />Mr. and Mrs. Bloom were present for this matter. <br />City Administrator Bernhardson informed the Council and <br />Acting Mayor Callahan that the applicants were seeking approval <br />of a street setback variance and a hardcover variance to <br />construct a garage. <br />Councilmember Goetten observed that there was a lot of <br />hardcover on this property, but she felt that the applicants were <br />entitled to a garage. She questioned whether it would be <br />necessary to remove the large tree on the property. <br />Mr. Bioom replied that the reason for the skyway and <br />location of the garage was to preserve the trees. <br />Mah-• ;th noted that hardcover was being reduced to 38.6% and <br />depicted the areas of hardcover that the applicant intended to <br />remove. <br />Councilmember Peterson indicated that she was appreciative <br />of the applicant working to maintain the level of hardcover on <br />the property. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Nettles, seconded by <br />Councilmember Goetten, to adopt Resolution #2710, approving the <br />.treet setback and hardcover variance for Mr. and Mrs. George <br />Bloom. Motion, Ayes=4, Nays=O, Motion passed. <br />#1454 BRADFORD W. REDDICR <br />2695 PHEASANT ROAD <br />VARIANCE <br />RESOLUTION #2711 <br />Mr. Reddick was present for this matter. <br />City Administrator Bernhardson explained that this <br />application involved a request for a side yard setback variance <br />of .9' to construct an attached garage 22' wide. <br />Councilmember Goetten said that it was her understanding <br />that the existing garage would remain.
