• Monitor inventory of forms and printed materials and order as requested. <br />• Maintain records of false alarms. Send notifications to homeowners and to each of the <br />municipalities for billing purposes. <br />• Process reports, compose and distribute letters on alcohol and tobacco compliance checks <br />for businesses and city councils. <br />• Maintain the police department website. <br />• Process and maintain police records and reports within an electronic records <br />management system (RMS); complete timely data entry, classify and properly code <br />crimes and validate all information for compliance with legal requirements and policies <br />regarding law enforcement information. <br />• Process casework for the submission of criminal cases to city and county prosecutors for <br />charging consideration. <br />• Transcribe case file narratives, statements, correspondence, reports, etc., from voice <br />recordings, direct dictation or drafts which are needed for investigation and prosecution, <br />ensuring a professional, accurate work product. <br />• Prepare reports concerning police department records, calls for service and crime <br />statistics for police department members, city administration and contract cities. <br />• Operate and maintain software applications for the storage, retrieval and dissemination <br />of electronic data to support directed patrol efforts and investigative cases. <br />• Monitor NCIC database, enter data of runaways, missing persons, stolen vehicles, stolen <br />and recovered property. <br />• Conduct monthly validations of hot files entries and update records as needed. <br />• Conduct and review criminal history records for criminal case files, permits, licensing <br />and background checks and gun permits to purchase. <br />• Provide reports to the public for the release of police records (media, insurance <br />companies, etc.) in compliance with state statutes under the direction of the chief of <br />police. <br />• Process gun permits to acquire, ensuring eligibility requirements established by state law <br />are met. <br />• Process expungements from court orders and statutory regulations. <br />• Troubleshoot issues found in various criminal justice applications. Identify errors with <br />data and/or functionality problems of the application. Work with the appropriate entity to <br />resolve the issues. <br />• Perform other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates. <br />Required Knowledge. Skills and Abilities <br />Knowledge: <br />• Clerical — Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as <br />word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing <br />forms, and other office procedures and terminology. <br />• English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language <br />including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. <br />• Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing <br />customer and personal services.
